About Me

Hi and welcome to my blog!

I’m a Swedish girl who loves baking! My greatest passion in life is everything involving sweets and food. I love reading gourmet periodicals and watching food shows on TV, but most of all I love savoring a delicious looking treat I’ve baked myself! When I've baked something truly delectable, and taken the first bite of my creation, I get this smug yet very pleased grin on my face (or so I’m told:-))!

I created this blog in the end of 2011, for the purpose of introducing some sort of structure to my baking, and to connect and share my recipes with other likeminded people. Maybe you share my passion for baking, maybe you’re the next Martha Stewart or maybe you never baked anything in your entire life….in any case, I hope you will find my blog and recipes inspiring.

Apart from food and desserts I love to travel. A big part of travelling for me is trying the local cuisine and specialties. Even if the scent, appearance or ingredients don’t always seem like my cup of tea at first glance. There more than often worth trying. I also feel you gain a better understanding for the local customs, culture and beliefs through food. If you do come across something you don’t like…well at least you’ve had a new experience. A specific memory that comes to time mind is when I was travelling around Asia.  While in Singapore, I had the opportunity of trying the local delicacy the Durian fruit. I will say it had a less than appetizing scent to it, (they were not allowed to be easten in indoor public places for this reason)...and the verdict? Well, let’s just say my taste buds were in complete agreement with whatever my nose had picked up. What continues to encourage me to try new things though is finding new favorite foods.

As I love to travel I have spent some time abroad. 18 months in London where I did an MSc in International Business. I spent a couple of months travelling around Southeast Asia, (stayed in Singapore for 3). Singapore is one of my favorite destinations and not only because of the food, (which is absolutely marvelous btw), but the people, culture, climate and location. They have just about anything you can ask for in a society. Hopefully I can go back one day and stay for a year or two. Last but not least; France!  I’m a keen ski enthusiast and try to visit the French Alps at least once a year. I’ve yet to have a bad meal there… and their pastries and sweets are to die for!

I also enjoy maintaining a healthy lifestyle. This is more than possible despite having culinary interests and a real sweet tooth. I believe in taking care of my body and in exercising a few times a week. I also eat lots of fruit, vegetables and health foods. I try to get 8 hours of sleep every night and drink plenty of water as well as green tea.....and yes.... I do indulge in less healthy foods like pizza, hamburgers, pasta and of course SWEETS, the main focus of this blog. I love everything sweet and on this blog I will cover the entire spectrum of sweets. From Éclairs to English biscuits. I believe most people can eat everything they like; the key is moderation and balance. Sweets and desserts are food for soul and they contribute to happiness and wellbeing.
You only live once and you should treat yourself while you’re here. Sometimes chocolate cake is exactly what you need! For me, I am over the moon when I get to eat delicious things and I think you will agree, when I say that happiness is the most important thing in life. When you’re happy everything else falls into place.

If you have any questions, want to exchange ideas, share recipes, or discuss what makes you happy...or whatever else... please feel free to leave a comment on my blog.

Lots of Love,

Johanna

  13. I am very excited to make your chocolate whoppie pies but I am unfamiliar with the measurement "dl" for the flour, confectioners sugar, and cocoa. Would you please share with me what it stands for? Thanks, I can't wait to make them.

  16. Hi Johanna,

We've just come across your gorgeous blog and thought we should contact you.

We've just started our own blog and, just like you, have a passion for food (particularly sweet!) and sharing that with others. The blog is called Honey & Lulu and it is about fashion, food and lifestyle. We were wondering whether you would support us by following our blog and we would love to follow your blog!

We are relatively new to the 'blogging world' and are having a little trouble getting the blog off its feet and establishing some followers. If you could follow us that would be fantastic and we will definitely return the favour!

Looking forward to seeing more of your fantastic posts!

So, please check us out at http://honeyandlulu.blogspot.com.au/, and we hope to hear from you!
